Having that single go to piece in my wardrobe is everything when finding inspiration for the day’s outfit. Current day style is demanding, with focuses ever-changing and gents proving they are willing to be risky and try something completely different. In recent years, there has been much more of a presence of men’s fashion in everyday life, with guys moving away from the run-of-the-mill work attire and actually putting some effort into what they wear.
What is style? Does everyone possess it? Or is it obtained only by those who choose to actively cultivate it? Since almost the beginning of time people have been revered for their personal style. Everyone from Jesus Christ to Mick Jagger can be identified by a particular aesthetic that characterizes his or her self-being. Yet, with so many strands stemming from its roots, I’ve learned that style is a world within itself, a realm that everyone enters, whether willingly or not.
As people we all navigate through a variety of different settings on a day to day basis and as gentlemen it’s in our nature to want to be well dressed for all of them. With the current landscape of menswear being so highly focused on suiting and tailoring it’s sometimes challenging to know how to dress smart without being dressed in a shirt and tie. Smart casual dressing is a look that will continue to serve us all well the older we all get but understanding how to create the blend of smart and relaxed is one that can take a little bit of practice.
